What do we mean when we speak of Jewish ethics? We know that the Torah embraces slavery and accepts gender inequality. The rabbis early on struggled with capital punishment. What about thoughts about pluralism, nationalism, democracy and the family. How have Jewish ethics evolved over the centuries?
